These images are all tiny in their original form, only a few centimetres wide and tall. I select those that appeal to me - cropping, rotating, choosing chance from what nature has created. I then photograph the originals and blow them up to A0 (841mm × 1189mm) and print them with archival inks onto rag photographic paper. I love the disorientated feel of scale - which is hard to reproduce online. Come and see the originals in my studio if you want.
All these works were shown at my Graduation Show from National Art School in 2013. I was stoked to sell all of them except one. They are now held in private collections.
All are acrylic and ink on board or canvas.
The squares are 600mm x 600mm
The last two shown are 3500mm by 2000mm and are on canvas
I love working with chance in the space of a square, it allows any orientation and gives even more flexibility for the painting to decide how it should look.
Many of these have now been sold and are held in private collections
